Lake Walensee is located in eastern Switzerland. In the northern part of the lake, near the water, is the Kurfirsten mountain range. On the other side of the lake is the popular winter resort of Flumserberg. Lake Walensee is one of the most beautiful bodies of water in Switzerland. The water there is almost always very cold; the temperature rarely rises above 20°C. This western part of the Heidiland resort region became famous thanks to the story of the girl Heidi, written by Johanna Spyri in 1881. Set in Switzerland, the novel «Heidi» tells the story of a little girl who, with her cheerfulness and kindheartedness, changed for the better the lives of many people around. The artwork was created in a unique individual technique in the impressionism style. This oil painting is a striking example of the impressionistic approach to landscape painting.
